BOY NAMED AGNES AND OTHER NOTABLES FROM NEW FILMS BY NEW DIRECTORS
Visually
innovative, thematically bold cinema created by little-known artists
from all around the globe--that’s what the heavyweight team
of The Film Society of Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art
are striving to give New Yorkers during the 34th edition of the
New Directors/New Films festival, which runs through April 3. From
Germany comes “Agnes and His Brothers,” a tough contender
in the dysfunctional-family sweepstakes (those dancing
feet getting the once-over in the photo above
belong to Agnes, a failed stud turned successful siren who is by
no means the oddest member of the oddball
