It’s been 43 years since Broadway wunderkind Mike Nichols proved he had no fear of film--or film goddesses--by boldly steering Elizabeth Taylor through the booby-trapped turf of Edward Albee's "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”. Despite occasional misfires (remember “The Day of the Dolphin” and “Wolf”?), Nichols remains a major figure in the world of cinema, an indisputable fact that will be celebrated by the Museum of Modern Art with a retrospective running from April 14 through May 1.
